As part of Oak Grove's effort to intensify its STEM certification effort, I attended STEMapalooza! on June 20-22.
Attendees participated in STEM/STEAM enriched learning opportunities that cultivated critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary for future success in STEM related college and career fields. We deepened our understanding of effective STEM practices and integrated science, technology, engineering, and mathematics instruction (including integration of content-area standards).  The goal was to create authentic, deeper learning STEM/STEAM opportunities for our students. Sessions varied from workshops, panel discussions, presentations, keynotes and informal collaboration opportunities.
The conference, with over 200 sessions and 400 attendees, was hosted by STEM Cobb, http://www.stemcobb.com/ The excitement was contagious - it was inspiring to see so many fellow teachers truly excited by their work with Atlanta's kids.  Project-based Learning and STEM-focused lessons are changing the way teachers teach and kids learn!
